Bones of John the Baptist (Yahya asm)
I came across this during a trip to Istanbul-Pendik. The bones of John the Baptist are hided under the ground of a train line. The history behind is breathtaking. The Eastern Rome (Byzantine), so called Christian Emperor Constantine (who, after the fall of West Rome, was the absolute ruler of the Christian world at the time) wanted to express his power and summoned the mortal remains of John the Baptist to the Byzantine capital, Istanbul (then Constantinople) from the holy church Damascus, Syria. The bones had to be removed from his tomb and transported by horse and carriage. Shortly before Istanbul, in Pendik, the horses suddenly stopped and refused to go any further. Even with their greatest effort, they could not persuade them to continue. The emperor dozed off and ordered the bones to be buried there. The exact location is on the back of the train station Kaynarca (Pendik). You don’t see any sign or monument. You just feel it if you was in the Holy Land and Jerusalem and have experienced the spirit of special heavenly places like the Jordan River where John the Baptist has announced Jesus to be the Messiah. You feel that there is something. You have to walk underground the train station to the back. Pray and seek for advice.
